Hotel Booking Design Exercise
Pitch
A mobile booking / rewards app that would serve as the communication device not only to hotel services but to all wifi enabled devices in the traveler’s room. Preferences could be set, stored and deployed on user demand or enabled by geofencing and beacons. As user data is collected, the app would become more predictive and useful to the traveler.
Traveler Pain Points
“I’m frustrated by the fact that no matter how frequently I take similar trips, I spend so much time booking travel and specifying my preferences.”
“I want all the conveniences of home when I travel.”
“When I’m traveling for work, I usually get in late and just want to go straight to my hotel room.”
Industry Pain Points
Energy expenditures are a huge part of overhead.
Installing tech hardware that becomes outdated quickly is a useless expense.
Services such as Airbnb are stealing some of our customers.
Opportunity
“If a travel brand tailored its information and overall trip experience based on personal preferences or past behavior, 76% of U.S. travelers would be likely or extremely likely to sign up for the brand's loyalty program, and 36% (over 1 in 3) would pay more for more tailored information and experiences.”
